I'm starting with the Recycle Bin plugin because of all the plugins it's probably the easiest one to do.
First thing you should do is right click the main tile and select Plugins then select HoverRecycle.

A small grey square will appear
at position 0,0 (top left corner of your desktop)
Shift+drag this square towards the center
of your desktop.
This small square is the Recycle Bin plugin in it's unskinned state.
Open up Windows Explorer and open up the Pixel Perfect theme folder which contains all the textures.
Look for a file called binE.bmp
This is the texture HVD will display when the bin is empty.
Hold down shift and drag the file onto the bin plug. When you see the + symbol you can drop the file.
The plugin will change and should look like this

*Note If there's anything in your bin it won't change yet
Now look in the Pixel Perfect theme folder again for a file called binF.bmp.
This is the texture HVD will display when the bin has deleted items in it.
Hold down ctrl and drag the file onto the bin plug. When you see the + symbol you can drop the file.
Test the bin by creating a new text document in notepad, saving it then deleting it. You should see the bin plugin change to reflect the bin's 'full' status.

Now
right click the main tile and
select Plugins then untick
the HoverRecycle plugin.
This creates a modules.ini file within
the HVD theme folder.
Now right
click the main tile again and
select Plugins then tick
the HoverRecycle plugin again.
The newly skinned recycle bin plugin should appear at position 0,0
Now it's just a simple case of shift+dragging
the plugin to an appropriate place in the left side
bar. (My bin plugin is just to the left
of where the tasks start)
And that's it!! The first plugin configured and applied.

Tip: When I have my plugin
configured correctly I exit HVD then reopen it.
This ensures the settings are saved.
Note:
To view the contents of your Recycle Bin left click the plugin once.
You can quickly empty your Recycle Bin right clicking the plugin and selecting Empty Bin
